The new season of How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) was approaching, and the show needed an exciting, authentic way to get viewers engaged.

What if Netflix created an ARG, putting fans intothe shoes of nerd-turned-boss protagonist, Moritz? We created a desktop-based game, challenging fans to save Moritz’s drug empire from a mysterious hacker by completing tasks that took them offline and into the real world.

The prize for the first to beat the hacker? Access to Season 3, 24 hours before the rest of the world. We even hired a professional puzzle-maker to make things tough. But what we underestimated was the commitment of Moritz’s diehard fans - after setting the show’s subreddit on fire, the game had its first winner within minutes.
